Inventory worksheet

Using an inventory worksheet will help you maintain an accurate record of your belongings and assist with organization and insurance purposes during the move. Below is an example of an inventory worksheet and suggestions on how to use it. These tips are taken from our free moving guide "Jernick's Guide To A Stress-Free Move". We give a hard copy version of this booklet to our customers as part of their onboarding package. You can download our moving guide here.

Instructions

  • Write down a detailed description of each item in the “Item Description” column.

  • Specify the quantity of each item in the “Quantity” column.

  • Assess and note the condition of each item in the “Condition” column (e.g., excellent, good, fair, damaged).

  • Estimate the value of each item in the “Estimated Value ($)” column. This will help for insurance purposes.

  • Assign a box number to each item that will correspond to the box you pack it in.

  • Repeat the process for each room and assign a unique box number for each box.

  • Fill in additional rows as needed.

Remember, packing efficiently and effectively can save you time, effort, and potential damage during the moving process.

Inventory Worksheet Tips

  • Take clear and detailed photos of valuable or fragile items and attach them to the worksheet for reference and documentation.

  • Consider using separate worksheets for different rooms to keep the inventory organized.

  • Keep a digital copy of the completed worksheet as a backup.

  • Carry a printed copy or digital version of the worksheet with you during the move to reference and ensure nothing is misplaced.

  • Update the worksheet as necessary during the packing and moving process, noting any changes or adjustments.
